We recently completed a collaboration with NOAA Advanced Survey Technologies Group, Ocean Innovations, and Bellamare to build a compact, underwater, lightfield imaging system based on the Raytrix R5 Camera. The system consists of a high-capacity Lithium-Ion battery pack with viewport that displays system status and battery charge, a main electronics housing with computer, power supplies, control, Gigabit ethernet and Wifi, and data storage, the R5 camera and lens in a very compact housing, and two LED lights. The system is rated to 1000 m. For more information please see the brochure or contact us.

SeaBatt 10 At OCEANS ’13 MTS/IEEE San Diego
We displayed a SeaBatt 10 at the MTS/IEEE OCEANS conference in San Diego, CA. The SeaBatt 10 is the first in our line of submersible battery systems that employs a 10 inch glass sphere housing rated to 10,000 meters depth, an Intelligent Battery and Power System (IBPS) with up to 784 Whrs, an LCD display with realtime battery status, and underwater bulkhead connectors for charging, discharging, and status monitoring through the housing. The SeaBatt 10 has many features that make it an excellent choice for powering a wide range of underwater instruments:
- 10000 meter depth rating
- High Capacity Li-Ion Batteries
- 1 to 8 Li-Ion 98 Whr packs
- Intelligent packs
- 784 Whr maximum energy
- Compact and light-weight
- Near-neutral buoyancy
- Visual display of system status
- Highly corrosion resistant
- Suitable for air transport
Guatek Mariana at 10th annual H2O Conference in San Diego
We’ve showed our first version of the Guatek Mariana 17 at the 10th annual H2O Conference in San Diego, CA. The Mariana is a mobile, submersible computing system for ocean exploration. Some of its key features are:
- Deep water housing rated from 6700 to 12,000 meters.
- Clear glass housings suitable for optical imaging in deep water.
- High-performance dual-core Intel single board computer running a variety of operating systems.
- Light-weight, high-capacity lithium ion batteries with space for up to 720 Whr standard and room for expanding up to more than 1 kWhr.
- Integrated power management system that controls all aspects of charging, discharging, and automatic shutdown.
- Net buoyancy of up to 50 lbs (depends on depth rating).
- Over 900 cubic inches of space for instrumentation.
Below are some photographs of the first version of the Mariana fully assembled.
